If you told me a few years ago that I’d learn something about virtual interior design from playing Roblox, I’d probably laugh. But here I am — a mum, designer, and accidental gamer — playing 99 Nights in the Forest with my two daughters and having one of those little “lightbulb” moments.
We love spending time together after dinner playing Roblox — and while I’m not exactly a gamer, it’s become our little family ritual. Recently, we started playing 99 Nights in the Forest, which is basically a survival game. You build, collect, and try not to get attacked by whatever is lurking in the trees. (Fun, right?)
Now, my older daughter is the experienced player. She knows exactly what to do. When we start the game, she’s already building a shelter, setting up the fire, and defending us from attacks. Meanwhile, my younger one and I are still trying to figure out which button does what. 😅
At some point, I realised something — while she’s taking care of the “hard stuff,” me and the little one can actually enjoy the game. We can collect flowers, decorate the base, and just play around without worrying about being eaten by some forest monster.
And that’s when it hit me…
